Lisandro Serra Delmar is one of only 35 professional shoemakers in the UK, and is bucking the trend, hand-crafting traditional 'barefoot' shoes. Heritage Crafts UK describe the skill as 'endangered', but as the Spanish-born Herefordian tells Kalpana Boodhoo, his work is in demand. Gaucho Ninja, his firm based at Kingstone in the Wye Valley, follows a family history entrenched in leather craftsmanship, including footwear with no heals and wider toe-boxes.
