'Urgent restoration work' needed for Evesham gem

Available for over a year

The Almonry has stood for over 600 years, a Grade I listed gem with roots stretching bac to the days of Evesham Abbey. But the historic treasure is at risk. Plans have been submitted for a major restoration project, aiming to repair the roof, timber frame, and stonework, ensuring this rare piece of local history can stand for centuries to come. James Pearson reports, with manager Ashleigh Jayes telling Sophie Millward how the museum will close in September 2025 for the first of two phases. Overall completion of the project is expect to take three years. Image credit: The Almonry Museum and Tourist Information Centre. Image shows the building before work has been carried out.
