The white wispy substance is the product of a type of moth, spotted everywhere in rural parts of the country, from Sanders Park in Bromsgrove to the roadsides of Ross-on-Wye, Eardiston, Pershore, Stourport-on-Severn and beyond. Emma Davies reports, with expert Professor Adam Hart from the University of Gloucester on hand, to explain how these ermine moths use the web to cover their caterpillars feeding on the hedgerows beneath, covering from predators such as birds.
