Herefordshire's 'Hospice Barbarians' tackle biggest fight yet
Available for over a year
The rugby team, who raise money for St Michael's Hospice in Hereford, had been issued with a legal notice from the official Barbarians team. The charity side was formed three years ago, and has generated almost £60,000 for the organisation with annual matches. Last year, they were told they had to change their name, but the matter has since been resolved, thanks to people power, according to one of the founders, Nick Nenadich. He tells Tom Edwards how this turn of events has been a massive surprise, and has created a working relationship with the internationally renowned invite-only rugby side. In a statement, Barbarians FC said: "Barbarians FC have a long and proud sporting and charity history. With the proud history it is important the club's name and logo are protected. Conversations have been ongoing for a good while with the Hospice Barbarians to ensure our trademarked name is used in the right way by others whilst also appreciating their good work. Misinformation has been made public recently regarding conversations and it is important to state legal engagement was recieved by us in the first instance and not sent. We value the importance of engagement and dialogue and are pleased to come to an agreement with the Hospice Barbarians and wish them continued success." Image credit: Hospice Barbarians
