Ginger is thought to have escaped in search of a new mate, after her partner, Fred, died. She was presumed missing, if not dead, for 11 months. Owner Sarah-Jane Muirie tells Elliott Webb how her pet was spotted by a horse rider at The Mount Inn, Stanton, initially mistaking Ginger for a rock, over a mile from the garden where she was last seen. She says she expected Ginger to have dug a hole underneath the garden fence, hibernating through the winter, and waking up once again. Image credit: Sarah-Jane Muirie
