'My art took me to the other side of the world'

Available for over a year

Kevin Wills, from Redditch, painted portraits of every British soldier who died in Afghanistan. He's repeated the feat for the heroic Ghurkha soldiers who aided UK armed forces, in an emotional mission that taken him all the way to Nepal. The father-of-four started his project in 2021, since completing 458 portraits of fallen British soldiers, which have been given to their next of kin. Returning from his trip to East Asia, the artist tells Tom Edwards how he handed over portraits to families of the 11 Ghurkha soldiers who died in Afghanistan. Image credit: Kev Wills
