When Ed Sheeran performed in Worcester, twice

Available for over a year

The megastar is one of the thousands who have taken to the iconic Marrs Bar stage in its 25 years of bringing big names to the city, and championing incredible musicians. Brian Maher tells Tom Edwards about the time Ed Sheeran supported 'The JCB Song' act Nizlopi, and then visited ahead of performing at Glastonbury in 2011. At the latter gig, the singer didn't charge a fee, acknowledging The Marrs Bar's role in supporting under-the-radar musicians and Ed's own performing career. The venue owner reflects on having acts including Nigel Clarke from Dodgy, The Selector, Bad Manners, Ellie Goulding, Newton Fawlkner all on the same stage. When Jim Capaldi performed, Brian made it so that Steve Winwood was on stage as well! Brian says the venue's location, in between Gloucester and Birmingham, makes Worcester the ideal destination for performers - who all regularly return - particularly to enjoy the musical delights of the green rooms.
