Drought declared across the Midlands: What next?

Available for over a year

The Environment Agency says it's been the driest spring and summer in 132 years, and conditions will continue until sustained rainfall over a number of weeks. Matt Gable tells Kate Justice how the agency is updating stakeholders on a weekly basis, and that a hosepipe ban is not in force yet, but is at the discretion of water companies, to implement or not. A spokesperson from Severn Trent said the organisation had thousands of employees working around the clock to keep water flowing, and that they are hoping to avoid a hosepipe ban for our area.
