Leicester's Caribbean Carnival is this year celebrating its 40th anniversary. The celebration on Saturday will feature a parade through the city centre, before revellers gather at Victoria Park for an afternoon of food, music and dance. Leicester's Caribbean Carnival was the brainchild of Elvie Morton, who came here as a nurse during Windrush, and wanted to create something powerful for Leicester’s Caribbean youth, bringing together artists and local leaders. Elvie has been telling Â鶹Éç Leicester's Kevin Ncube that Carnival began as a way to mark Emancipation Day.
