The Doom painting

Available for over a year

The Doom or Last Judgement painting in Cound is thought to be 600 years old. The painting is on the wall of St Peter鈥檚 Church in the village but needs significant work to preserve its future. A 鈥淒oom painting鈥 is a medieval church wall depiction of when Christ judges all souls, deciding who ascends to Heaven and who is condemned to Hell. Church Warden Ann Cooke, Mavis Hunt and wall painting preservation expert Peter Martindale tell Paul Shuttleworth what is required to preserve Cound's very own piece of heaven.
