Can more be done to encourage healthy eating?

Available for over a year

Our reporter John Fernandez spoke to local parents about how they are tackling healthy eating. We have heard from the director of Public Health Dr Nicola Brink Who says: "Earlier this year, I called for central government-led policies that make healthy choices easier and more accessible for everyone. The recent statistics from the Guernsey Child Measurement Programme reinforce the importance of prevention. While we've seen some positive signs, the levels of excess weight among children remain concerning, and the inequalities in the findings highlight the need for action. In this context, Dr Brink welcomes public discussion around measures such as restricting the placement of products high in fat, salt and sugar in prominent store locations like aisle ends and checkouts. While no specific policy has been proposed in Guernsey, Public Health continues to explore a range of options - guided by evidence" Background image credit: Getty/fcafotodigital
