From escaping abuse to mapping Mongolia’s rivers
Available for over a year
Hereford explorer Rose Sales' story is one of courage, hope and healing. She says canoeing the River Wye set her up for joining a pioneering team of adventurers, becoming what's believed to be the first British group to voyage along a previously uncharted river in Mongolia. Rose, who founded the Wye Knot community, has recounted her expedition in a memoir which she hopes will inspire others to overcome the odds. Speaking on the banks of the River Wye on historic Victoria Bridge, Rose tells Kalpana Boodhoo how she grew up in an abusive home, often scavenging for food and was prevented from going to school.
