Public inquiry into NHS trust after failure

Available for over a year

A public inquiry into an NHS trust has been announced after claims it failed mental health patients. Grieving families who led the campaign for an inquiry said their loved ones had received ''chaotic and appalling" mental health care. They include the families of Christie Harnett and Nadia Sharif, who were treated at West Lane Hospital in Middlesbrough, where they died by suicide both aged 17. Emily Moore, 18, also took her own life after being treated there. The families met with Health Secretary Wes Streeting who announced the inquiry into Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Trust. Stuart Whincup has this report.
