TRANSLATION: Developers have been given permission to build the units on a field about 1km east of Mawgan Porth. According to St Mawgan in Pydar Parish Council residents were concerned there could be a risk of it "detracting from the character that bring visitors to the area". Stars understood to have holiday homes in Mawgan Porth, include Oscar winner Cate Blanchett, and actors Jason Momoa and Jason Statham. The parish council raised concerns the new development could harm an Area of Great Landscape Value near the location. Local residents' questionnaire responses for the parish plan showed that parishioners felt there was sufficient tourism provision and that the area did not need any more. According to Arnold she did not own the ducks and believed they must have been dumped near-by as they were "not wild or native to local rivers". Thanks to a community effort, the ducks were rounded-up and taken to a new home. Arnold said: "It was wonderful to see the community rally together and solve this situation. I'm glad we were able to get them out of harm's way." TRANSLATION Cornish Pasty Week is organised by industry body the Cornish Pasty Association (CPA) and raises money for the Cornish Pasty Community Fund. The 2026 event will start on 23 February. Camborne Science and International Academy was one of the schools that received funds in 2025, and the school plans to create and develop a school food garden. 2026 would be Cornish Pasty Week's ninth event. The week will end at The Lost Gardens of Heligan for its first global pasty championship. According to the organisers there will be several activities, including an open competition to find the world's fastest pasty crimper. That鈥檚 all from me, have a good week.
