TRANSLATION Tourists are being asked to reduce their water usage during their summer holidays as hot weather continues to impact the South West. Last week, the Environment Agency moved Cornwall, the Isles of Scilly, and Devon into a "prolonged dry weather" status after the warmest spring on record and a series of heatwaves The Consumer Council for Water said tourism-related usage needed to be reduced to prevent restrictions. To save water, listeners told 麻豆社 Radio Cornwall they were not washing their cars, drinking fewer cups of tea and not flushing the toilet as much. Joanne Laeger, the agency鈥檚 planning and engagement manager, said people needed to "be prepared" for the continued dry and warm weather, including holidaymakers. TRANSLATION Graffiti of sculptor Dame Barbara Hepworth has appeared in St Ives, where she created many of her famous pieces. The work has been attributed to Bristol-based graffiti artist Stewy, who stencilled 10 smaller versions on cardboard marked with his signature and left them at locations around the town. The mural appeared last week on the former Palais de Danse building. The former cinema and dance hall was bought by Hepworth in 1961 to use as a studio. Her most famous sculpture, Single Form, which stands outside the United Nations building in New York, was created in the studio. Hepworth, originally from Wakefield in West Yorkshire, died in May 1975 at the age of 72 in an accidental fire at her studio. The building was gifted to Tate by her estate in 2015. The Tate said it was "content for it to be left in place for now". RECORDING 3: Rannow a arvor Kernow re dheuth ha bos argel bosek rag gwenen sia tanow. TRANSLATION Parts of Cornwall's coastline have become an important refuge for a rare bumblebee. The Bumblebee Conservation Trust said the Moss Carder bumblebee is now found in only a handful of locations after disappearing from many parts of the UK where it was once common. The species survives in a few locations, including Penhale near Perranporth, the Lizard and Gwithian Towans. Pip Cook, the trust鈥檚 South West project officer said that the South West is one of those places where the Moss Carder is still found Laura Larkin, assistant England manager for Buglife, based in Plymouth, said that since the 1940s, more than 97% of flower-rich habitat has been lost. She added that anybody can make a difference 鈥 through small actions, putting more flowers in the garden and not using chemicals, every little thing will help.
