Lowenna Hosken, producer for the Cornish delegation at the Lorient Interceltic Festival, said being chosen as the honoured nation showed "how far we have come, we are no longer a small nation, we are standing up and really taking a presence on a world stage". Organisers said the festival had attracted about 950,000 visitors and the main stadium show had been watched by about 2.5 million on French television. Cornwall's food, drink, film and art were showcased throughout the event. Councillor Leigh Frost, leader of Cornwall Council, said the festival was "firmly putting Cornwall at the centre of a massive audience". TRANSLATION The Forest for Cornwall scheme started in 2019 in a bid to help the area respond to climate change. A Cornwall Council spokesman said the money should help the authority reach its target of 8,000 hectares of "new tree canopy by 2035". The project has included tree planting in communities, farms, schools and streets across Cornwall. Bosses said the scheme was designed to help England reach the target of 16.5% canopy and woodland cover by 2050. But according to Cornwall Wildlife Trust testing carried out ahead of the work might not be detailed enough to identify all contaminated sediment. According to campaigners dredging could release pollutants. Along with allowing larger vessels to use the docks, the project also includes creating a new area for putting together floating offshore wind turbines. It is also hoped the redevelopment would double the cargo and freight capacity at the docks and generate about 拢13m into the local economy. That鈥檚 all from me, have a good week.
