Driftmachine and Andy Ammer: Electronic experimenters

In the Studio

Available for over a year

Gareth Mitchell has a rare glimpse into the creative world of German electronic musicians, generating unique sounds from vintage synthesisers. Sound artist Andy Ammer joins Driftmachine duo Andreas Gerth and Florian Zimmer in Berlin鈥檚 Studio for Electro Acoustic Music to build a soundscape for a reading of a poem by Lord Byron. We hear how they manipulate sounds like a squeaky bridge and an old tractor 鈥 and use what鈥檚 believed to be the only working example of the rare Supercord synthesiser, built in the former East Germany in the early 1960s.
