Sometimes the world can seem a scary and dangerous place. So how prepared are you for when things go wrong? We鈥檝e lived through the Covid pandemic, and you don鈥檛 have to doomscroll for long to find other threats ranging from natural disasters and cyber-attacks to nuclear conflict or the existential threat of climate change. But a growing number of people are preparing for almost any kind of emergency and are ready to protect their loved ones. They are known as 鈥榩reppers鈥 and, in our conversation, we bring together four of them. 鈥淎 lot of people talk about preparedness like it鈥檚 stockpiling fear but it鈥檚 actually stockpiling peace,鈥 Kellene tells host James Reynolds. 鈥淚t鈥檚 a way of life, not a destination.鈥 The prepper 鈥 or survivalist 鈥 movement was once quite niche, today it鈥檚 much more mainstream. Our guests share their plans, offer advice and discuss the stereotypes. 鈥淢ost people do think we鈥檙e a little bonkers till an event happens that impacts their life,鈥 Krystal says.
