Have been going to Uncle sams since it first opened and the door was in a different place and there was no separate bar!!! the burgers are still as great as ever...it's not expensive and you leave feeling stuffed..it's a part of life!!!

I've been going to Uncle Sam's for years, it's a bit of a family tradition. The burgers just rock so I've never bothered to try anything else. My favourite is a burger with cheese and salad. McDonalds? Burger King? Pah! Rubbish. Get yourself off to Uncle Sam's, it's the best.

I love Uncle Sams. So what if it has not changed in years? It doesn't need the corporate re-branding that the massive national and international eateries do every five years or so. If it isn't broken................don't fix it. I love the cheese sauce. The vibe is confident, but not arrogant, and they do listen to customers. Chopped onion is back in the pickle tray!

I used to go to Uncle Sam's Chuck Waggon in the early days.And like Barbara above I miss the glass of water,the chopped raw onion, and the chuck waggon bean pot with the bacon and sausage in. They used to do Blue Cheese on the burgers too which blinded the cheese today. for me it hasn't been the same since the original owhers sold up and opened 'Bartons' on Glossop Rd. (Remember the Yellow Cab?). Uncle Sam's is still a great place to eat though, a piece of home grown americana, unlike the cloned, corporate designed eateries in the valley centertainment. 06/05/05

I first went to Uncle Sams as a poor student in 1973 (oh no, that makes me really old). It's still just as good, except whatever happened to the hot fudge sauce on the icecream?!? Also the automatic glass of water before the meal used to be nice touch (they're probably on a water meter now. Apart from those 2 niggles - marvellous!

I went to Uncle Sam's last night - the nachos were brill - make them into a main dish, please! The service was a bit haphazard, as I think we had three/four different waitresses throughout our meal - but that was ok as they got everything spot on!!!
The tables are little crammed in, but it makes it a little bit cosier, and I love watching the train go around (my partner even timed it, he liked it so much). I woudl go back again for an easy weekend meal....

I'm 16 and i live not far from uncle sams. Uncle sams has been a memory of mine ever since an early age and every time i visit i become more and more attached. The food is excellent and the staff friendly and swift. I love uncle sams and so does my friend Mary. She also loves uncle sam. Keep up the good work uncle sam! O I also recommend everything on the menu- each different item is a new and exciting experience- I especially enjoyed my burger with blue cheese! yummy!

Have been going to "Sam's" almost since day one, so a clue as to what this place means to me and my friends and family. Great grub at reasonable prices and what about the draught Bud and fantastic relish tray!! A delight!

Been coming to Sams since I was a kid and whilst it might look a little different now, in essence it's not changed at all. If you're hungry have the 1/2 lb Cheeseburger, it's huge and the cheese sauce is to die for. In Sheffield only Damons comes close.

we went there for my little girls birth day and it stunk.
We had been to TGI Fridays the week before and regreted not going back. The staff we nice but very slow and the food was expensive rubbish. I dont like paying a fortune for onion rings to find out they are the same ones you can buy frozen from the supermarket. Not so much uncle sams , as great aunt Maudes.

I have to say I,ve been to some superb restraunts in florida but truly not one of these is as good as Uncle Sams on Ecclesall Road. The nachos for starters are simply fantastic, the coleslaw yes coleslaw something I personally am not keen on is beautifull being extra fresh and crispy with a gorgeous creamy sauce sat on a bed of lettuce if only I could save some for my main course ! I have never been able to be adventurous at Uncle Sams as I simply dare not risk not having the most mouth watering cheeseburger in the world, I dont know how they do it but this white runny cheese covers the burger (no cheese slices here) and when the pickkles are added then mmmmm I'm wanting to stop typing now and go and get one shame I live 15 miles outside Sheffield. The sweets are also great like the ice cremy thing that comes with cookies and choc chip bits on this means three out of three courses all being scrumcious. I dont realy know why I'm promoting the place as its hard enough getting a seat here at the weekends but if you can get a seat then you lucky person. I also must add that if Uncle Sams franchised its menu out then goodbye to TGI Fridays, Fatty Arbuckles and any other competition.

The review sums it up really - I would just like to add that the menu hasn't changed in years - I was talking to someone the other day who could name all the dishes and their numbers - It spooks the waitress when you walk in and order your Number 12 with a side order of 42 and a pitcher of Bud - without even looking at the menu.
I first went here about 20 years ago as a poor student and still tend to return approximately once a month with kids on tow. Great place - Great value.
I am tempted to write bad things so that all the new students avoid the place thereby leaving it quieter for me - but that would be a little unfair!
