Would you risk your own life to save a complete stranger?ere
By Jamie Shepherd Volunteering to save lives is something that I thoroughly enjoy. From waking up in the middle of the night to help someone who is in trouble to turning up for a simple training session, it's always been a complete buzz for me.
The RNLI Lifeboat services are situated around the coast of the UK and deal with saving peoples lives at sea. Many people need help when at the seaside or on boats far away from the coast.
Some people don't understand how powerful and potentially dangerous the sea can be. And so the lifeboat is very important ... the crew aim to get to an incident as quickly as possible and make sure they provide as much help as possible!
Find out why I joined up with the RNLI near my home in Wales and what it's like for me to be so far away from the coast when I'm at university in Staffordshire.
