An eight-foot high stegosaurus stands with her baby on the south bank of the river Tees, with the cooling towers of Haverton Hill in the background.

Teessaurus Park was opened in 1979, and at first featured only one T-rex sculpture.

In 1987 the life-size, steel skeletons of dinosaurs including stegosaurus, brontosaurus, brachiasaurus and a mammoth were added.

The sculptures were built by workers on the government Youth and Employment Training Scheme at Amarc Training and Safety.

Sadly the park is a less popular attraction now than it once was, as its condition has deteriorated.

The sculptures are all sprayed with graffitti, and the gardens are overgrown and filled with litter.
