Len polishes his cornet and remembers his father, who was a fine amateur musician. There wasn't much he couldn't play. All the brass in the house was polished every Monday - some seventy pieces. His father used to sit at the piano after tea on a Saturday night and play popular music by ear, never from sheet music. He shows a photograph of his father sitting at the piano. He was a fantastic man.
