Phil, who has had cataracts since birth, recently underwent an operation that improved his sight. While producing the London edition of the National Talking Express - a stereo tape magazine for the blind and visually impaired - he can now see all the knobs and buttons, whereas before he used to have to feel his way around the controls. Things are a bit overwhelming without sunglasses as his brain isn't used to the light...
