REMEMBERING A HERO

Jaimal tells the story of his courageous Grandfather, Manta. He fought in the British Indian Army in the First World War and was injured on the front line whilst saving his commanding officer.

He was hospitalised in Brighton but didn’t survive his wounds. Along with many other Sikh and Hindu soldiers he was cremated and buried at the Chattri memorial at Patcham.
