EXCITED FOR IRAQ
By Sama Hadad
Sama watches footage of the war. All they're doing is watching the television and making phone calls to family members - she can't revise for her exams with the mix of excitement and anxiety and it's a really weird feeling. Everyone is making plans about going back to Iraq - will they be able to go there for their summer holidays? Could they take a year out to go back to Iraq? But there's obviously a lot of thought for their families - the majority of her family is in Baghdad and she's afraid for their lives. But she's always been afraid for their lives because of Saddam's brutality. Communication over the phone is very superficial as phones are tapped, but it's just hearing their voices which is important. They say that life is going on as usual and they'll live through it.

What Sama says is not the whole truth. Although Saddam Hussain is a little brutal, he is for his country. Of course, from the side of the British, his brutality is unbearable.

Happy to see that some of the Iraqi people are happy for their future! I wonder what percentage are for and how many against?
