A recent conference on "space weather" attended by scientists from NASA discussed the potential effects of large solar flares on computer systems and technology such as GPS. Solar scientist Dr Mario Bisi, from Aberystwyth University's Institute of Maths & Physics, pops in to the Science Cafe to tell Adam Walton about the latest prediction. .
A new £40million project in Wales will create "supercomputer" hubs across the country, which will offer scientists and businesses a massive amount of computing power to aid them in their research.
