16. Related party transactions

Âé¶¹Éç World Service is a division of the British Broadcasting Corporation, a body incorporated by Royal Charter.

The largest group in which the results of Âé¶¹Éç World Service are consolidated is that headed by the Âé¶¹Éç.

The consolidated accounts of this group may be obtained from the Head of the Executive Unit, The Media Centre, 201 Wood Lane, London W12 7TQ.

The related party transactions of Âé¶¹Éç World Service have been presented in accordance with FRS 8: Related Party Disclosures.

16a. Transactions with subsidiaries

Âé¶¹Éç World Service made grants of £0.4 million (2008: £0.3 million) during the year to Âé¶¹Éç World Service Trust, towards education projects and general management and administration costs.

Âé¶¹Éç World Service Trust procures some services from Âé¶¹Éç World Service on an arm’s-length basis.

16b. Transactions with associates

During the year there were no disclosable transactions with associates.

16c. Transactions with key management

During the year there were no disclosable transactions with key management.

16d. Other transactions

During the year the Âé¶¹Éç Group charged Âé¶¹Éç World Service net costs of £163.2 million (2008: £156.5 million) in respect of operating costs.

At 31 March 2009 Âé¶¹Éç World Service was owed £2.4 million (2008: £1.3 million) by the Âé¶¹Éç Group.
