Serbian Election Reaction

Results started to come in from Serbia's general election while the World Today went on air. Unofficial projections put the nationalist Radical Party in the lead, but not far enough ahead to form a government.

The turnout was high, a reinforcement of democracy perhaps. That's certainly the hope of the Prime Minister, Vojislav Kostunica, whose Democratic Party is lying in second place.

He said that the vote could set Serbia on a path to a better life and a more secure future for its people.
