The newly expanded Craoladh nan Gaidheal website went live. In October, Radio nan Gaidheal listeners world-wide were able to hear the service when it was streamed through the site.

DJ Niall Iain MacDonald brought new sounds to Â鶹Éç Radio nan Gaidheal in May through the music programme Rapal. Aimed at people aged 18 - 25, Rapal comes live from Stornoway weekdays from Monday to Thursday.

In October, the first five units of Beag air Bheag were introduced on the Â鶹Éç Alba website. These award-winning units give a taste of Gaelic to learners at a beginner level.

Gruth is Uachdar - This new six part drama, based on Crowdie and Cream by the late Finlay J MacDonald, was broadcast in February. The series followed the story of a young Finlay growing up on the island of Harris between the two World Wars.

The Â鶹Éç Radio nan Gaidheal radio programme for youngsters celebrated its 10th year with two live programmes. Many of the presenters of the programme over the last ten years took part. Children who had written poems for the event were invited to read them on air.

On 26 June, Radio nan Gaidheal began broadcasting between 2 and 4 in the afternoon. This expansion brought the station's broadcasting hours to around 3,400 hours per year. The programme 2 gu 4 brought light-hearted conversation, laughter and pop music to the listeners.

Since August Radio nan Gaidheal has been available on digital satellite.

Since May Radio nan Gaidheal has been available on Freeview EPG 90.

The Gaelic Media Service replaced the Comataidh Craolaidh Gàidhlig.

Aithris na Maidne celebrated 25 years since its first broadcast.

A language learning project involving Scotland, Ireland and Wales created the highly successful website and TV series Colin and Cumberland.

Â鶹Éç Alba's first tri media project was launched. The landmark TV and radio music series Aig Cridhe ar Ciùil were supported by an award winning website.

The Gaelic education programme, Litir do Luchd-ionnsachaidh, was available as a podcast for the first time.

Radio nan Gaidheal reported happenings live from the highly publicised G8 summit at Glean Eagles. The Rapal team broadcast a special programme from the Live8 concert at Murrayfield.

Eòrpa was offered on demand for the first time on the Â鶹Éç Alba website.
