Have your say

Jaggy has just completed a training session at a school when Sandra approaches him. They are both surprised to see each other there. Jaggy explains that he’s come to see some of the players. Sandra asks him to nip to the main hall when he’s finished.

In the school hall, Jaggy takes a seat next to Sandra and listens to Darren talking to the children about drugs and what he has learnt from being in prison. He also talks about knife culture and how taking a knife to school could mean it being used on them.

Jaggy heads back to the football pitch. Darren approaches and starts giving advice on what Jaggy should be teaching. Jaggy doesn’t take this well so Darren is forced to apologise. He asks Jaggy what he thought about his talk. Jaggy thought he was good, spending time in prison has taught him how to use slick phrases. Jaggy also reminds him that they shouldn’t even be talking as he’s still on day release remember? Darren leaves, saying he just wants to show there are no hard feelings on his side.

As Jaggy is about to leave, he sees Sandra. He confronts her saying she must have arranged for Darren to be there on the same day as him. She didn’t but she’s glad he was there, he can now see how far Darren has come. Jaggy’s not convinced and as he starts to drive off, Sandra shouts after him saying Darren deserves a second chance but what’s the use when people like him won’t give him a fair hearing?

Sandra notices Darren is quiet in the car back to prison and tells him how she proud she is of him. When he’s out of prison properly, he’ll be the one teaching kids on the pitch. Darren gets upset, being out on day release makes it harder to go back in and he hates everyone judging him, just as Jaggy did earlier. He has paid his dues but its never going to be to be enough. Sandra firmly tells him he will continue doing well in prison, he doesn’t have long in there anyway but Darren has had enough saying he really can’t stand it anymore.
