This
360°
picture was sent in by Mat Overton.
He
says: "This one was taken in the snow on Saturday
20th November 2004 and shows a full panorama view around
the tower created by merging 14 pictures taken at each
side, hence the tower is not actually visible. The scene
stretches as far as Emley Moor to the East, with the
clouds rising from the power stations of Doncaster just
to the left. To the West, Moorside Edge twin transmitters
(not quite visible here). And to the south (I suspect)
that's Holme Moss on the horizon. Sadly most of the
view to the north is ruined by the new building work
on the site!

The
Lowdown...
|
| There
are 165 steps in the tower, but the view from it is well
worth the climb. Anyone who travels to the top because
they know there's a pub up there will find it has been
demolished. |
