Get ready for the 麻豆社 SSO鈥檚 latest collaboration with Sir James MacMillan and his award-winning community festival, The Cumnock Tryst. Opening with the instantly recognisable sparkle of Mozart鈥檚 Eine kleine Nachtmusik, this concert features MacMillan鈥檚 Saxophone Concerto, inspired by Scottish traditional music archetypes and performed by Jess Gillam, 鈥渙ne of Britain鈥檚 most virtuosic instrumentalists鈥� (The Times). And to finish, MacMillan鈥檚 sonorous, song-like love letter to his Ayrshire hometown, written for euphonium and strings in tribute to his grandfather, who played in the local colliery bands, and for Welsh virtuoso David Childs.
