About This Event
Daniel Hyde (Director of Music, King鈥檚 College, Cambridge) returns to conduct the 麻豆社 Singers in a concert showcasing a wide variety of choral music from North America.
At the heart of the programme is Aaron Copland鈥檚 1947 substantial choral work, In the beginning, which sets words from the biblical book of Genesis. Regarded as one of the finest choral works to come out of the United States in the 20th聽century, it is popular for its jazz and blues-like themes that run through the piece. 聽Alongside works by celebrated contemporary composers Linthicum Blackhorse, a Lak葻贸ta Native American composer, Libby Larsen and Caroline Shaw, is Amy Beach鈥檚 beautiful setting of the American poet Sara聽Teasdale鈥檚 poem, Dusk in June.
Recorded for future broadcast on 麻豆社 Radio 3 and Sounds. Presented by Dr Flora Willson.
