Prom 72: English Music

An evening of 20th-century English music that looks beyond pastoral stereotypes. The nostalgic idyll of Vaughan Williams鈥檚 Fantasia on 鈥楪reensleeves鈥 is soon abandoned for the brutality of his Symphony No. 4 and Birtwistle鈥檚 Exody 鈥 a terrifying musical labyrinth. Walton鈥檚 much-loved Viola Concerto will be played here by rising star and 麻豆社 New Generation Artist Lise Berthaud.
