REMEMBERANCE | COMMUNITY | HOPE

Marking the 60 years since the Aberfan disaster, this concert is anchored by Paul Mealor鈥檚 newly commissioned From Darkness into Light: a concert requiem for hope, bringing together Mark Lewis Jones, Aberfan Schools Choirs, Ynysowen Male Voice Choir, and the 麻豆社 National Chorus of Wales in an act of remembrance. Framing this centrepiece is music that moves from urgency to hope: Anna Clyne鈥檚 This Moment flashes with restless energy; Haydn鈥檚 E minor 鈥淢ourning鈥� Symphony (No. 44) drives forward with fierce intensity; Mozart offers weight and luminous calm in the Andante cantabile from the 鈥淛upiter鈥�; and Vaughan Williams鈥� Whitman-inspired Toward the Unknown Region sets out on a searching journey towards the horizon.
