If your plan is to go further with your studies, the skills you'll learn on a Key Skills Communications course are going to be a big help.
The reason that colleges or universities prefer Key Skills is that they see them as basic to any course you might be planning on studying. These skills will teach you how to manage your work and study more effectively.

At some point during your course you may be expected to do any one of the following:
- Research
- Organise and prioritise large amounts of information
- Collect and analyse information
- Write an essay or report
- Give a presentation
- Work in teams on projects
- Schedule your workloads
- Take part in discussions
There's another plus point to communication skills. Wherever you go, you're going to be meeting new people and making friends. This can be a bit daunting for some, but it needn't be. Communication skills will give you the knowledge and confidence to mingle with style.
All these skills are covered on the Communications course and you'll be given the opportunity to put them into practise. So, when you do go on to college or university, you'll be able to use what you've learnt to cope with all that they can throw at you.
