Un, uno, una, un' can mean a/an or one.

un negozio
a shop
un ufficio
an office

Uno is used with masculine words beginning with z or s + consonant:

uno scontrino
a receipt
uno sbaglio
a mistake

Una is used with a feminine word beginning with a consonant:

una bottiglia
a bottle
una ³¦¾±³Ù³Ùà
a town

un' with a feminine word beginning with a vowel:

un'aranciata
an orange drink,
un'ora
an hour
