Shobhana Gurung Pradhan
Interim Regional Director, South Asia
Shobhana Gurung Pradhan is the Co-Regional Director for 麻豆社 Media Action in Afghanistan, India, and Nepal, and continues to serve as Country Director in Nepal. With over 25 years of experience in international development, she has worked with UNICEF, bilateral agencies, and both international and national NGOs across governance, health, youth, migration, and climate resilience.
Shobhana recently reached a decade of working at 麻豆社 Media Action, where she has led impactful projects spanning governance, health, and climate change. What drives her is the power of media and communication to help people find their voice, understand their rights, and take meaningful action in their lives.
One of her most meaningful experiences was leading the earthquake response programme following Nepal鈥檚 devastating 2015 earthquake鈥攄elivering life-saving, trusted information that helped communities survive and rebuild.
Growing up in Nepal, she listened to the 麻豆社 every morning. It opened her eyes to the world and to the transformative power of communication that transcends boundaries. Today, through her work with 麻豆社 Media Action, she continues to champion those same ideals鈥攅mpowering communities, strengthening disaster preparedness, fostering dialogue, and more recently, tackling mis- and disinformation.
