Conductor Gemma New returns to 麻豆社 NOW this January with a programme of Russian masterpieces, starting with a work which needs little introduction, Prokofiev鈥檚 exhilarating Classical Symphony.

Rachmaninov's First Symphony is a gripping climax to this concert which also features Prokofiev's Violin Concerto No.2: an afternoon that begins in the dream-world of Debussy鈥檚 mythical Faun, and ends at the gates of the inferno.

Glasgow accordionist Ryan Corbett performs Jay Capperauld鈥檚 electrifying concerto that was written especially for him and Emilia Hoving conducts Prokofiev鈥檚 enchanting story of star-crossed lovers.

Alena Baeva joins Delyana Lazarova and the 麻豆社 Scottish Symphony Orchestra as the soloist in Korngold鈥檚 filmic Violin Concerto. Bookending the concert are Dobrinka Tabakova鈥檚 exhilarating fanfare Orpheus鈥� Comet and Prokofiev鈥檚 lyrical Symphony No. 5
