Thistle mascot Clyde will be back for the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Glasgow, after being at the centre of the 2014 games hosted by the city.

He'll be joined by Finnie the unicorn, who is the new official mascot for Glasgow 2026 - who was chosen to represent Scotland's national animal.

Clyde, meanwhile, was designed by then 12-year-old Beth Gilmour and was a big hit with visitors during Glasgow 2014.

The 2026 Glasgow Commonwealth Games will take place from 23 July to 2 August – 12 years after they were last held in Glasgow.

Clyde met thousands of people at the 2014 Commonwealth Games, including the Princess of Wales, who was at that time known as the Duchess of Cambridge.

Visitors could also spot 25 life-size statues of him placed around the city, and he's also been involved in Commonwealth Games events elsewhere in the UK.

He could be seen carrying Scotland's colours to the Gold Coast Common Wealth Games in 2018 and Birmingham in 2022 as part of the Baton relay.

Elinor Middlemiss, Team Scotland's Chef de Mission, added: "Clyde isn't just a mascot, he's part of Scotland's sporting story.

"It's so exciting to have such a loved member of the team returning to Glasgow and he'll be a great supporter for Team Scotland."

More than 3,000 athletes from 74 nations and territories will compete across 10 sports and six Para sports at Glasgow 2026.

Clyde will also be there to help host The Clyde Club at Team Scotland House where people can watch the games, meet Clyde and athletes and enjoy family-friendly activities.
