FACTS

HMS Nottingham officially has officially returned to the Naval Fleet (Tuesday, 6th July 2004) after a £26 million repair job.

The ship ran aground on rocks off the Australian coast in July 2002 and was badly damaged.

HMS Nottingham : The hangar
The Lynx Helicopter is a multi-role capable helicopter. We're standing in its hangar.

With a maximum speed of 150 knots, it has good endurance and is fitted with a variety of sensor and communications equipment.

In the anti-surface role, the Lynx's fires the battle proven Sea Skua missile against enemy surface forces at considerable range.

The Lynx MK 8 helicopter is also fitted with Stingray torpedoes to counter the submarine threat.
