He's also realised that being a man who writes love stories for boys is pretty unusual.
Is love not a subject that appeals to boys, or is it the books part that puts them off?
Steven meets potential teen readers and talks to fellow authors Chris Vick and Alex Wheatle, along with mental health campaigner Jordan Stephens of Rizzle Kicks.
