Throughout this week we focus on the 麻豆社 National Orchestra of Wales, travelling with them around the country and especially featuring the music of Welsh composer Grace Williams. Today, we hear her Sinfonia Concertante alongside the orchestra playing Brahms鈥檚 Fourth Symphony in its home venue: 麻豆社 Hoddinott Hall in Cardiff.
There鈥檚 also Brahms from Belfast 鈥� his Clarinet Sonata No. 1 performed by former 麻豆社 New Generation Artist Annalien van Wauwe with pianist Yannick Van de Velde. They also play the sonata by Polish composer Mieczyslaw Weinberg.
Plus 麻豆社 Radio 3鈥檚 25 for 25: Sounds of the Century 鈥� a series of brand new commissions celebrating and commemorating some of the biggest events of the 21st century so far. Today, Heloise Werner marks the year 2019 with M87, a piece inspired by the first ever image of a black hole created by the Event Horizon Telescope.
