Â鶹Éç

Elizabeth Alker showcases the best performances by Â鶹Éç orchestras, choirs, ensembles and other great performing groups from Europe and around the globe.

We continue our focus this week on the Â鶹Éç National Orchestra of Wales with the First Symphony by Grace Williams, the 20th-century Welsh composer whose music the orchestra is currently championing. And Caribbean violinist Ellinor D’Melon is the soloist in Felix Mendelssohn’s Violin Concerto in a concert recorded last year in Swansea.

There’s also more chamber music from last year’s Belfast Music Society International Festival, with Irish soprano Ailish Tynan performing a set of Richard Strauss’s most beloved songs, and trumpeter Simon Höfele playing Takemitsu’s musical memorial to fellow composer Witold Lutoslawski.
