Aled Jones and Kate Bottley host a joyful singalong of school assembly hymns from Victoria Hall, Bolton.

Tens of thousands of votes were cast to find the nation鈥檚 favourite school assembly hymn, and Aled counts down the top 20 to reveal the winner. A children鈥檚 choir and on-stage band accompany the audience in a rousing singalong that brings memories and melodies flooding back.

Special guest James B Partridge, the music teacher behind the phenomenon of school assembly hymns going viral, performs two classics and leads everyone in a fast-paced rendition of a much-loved hymn.

As a former teacher, parish priest Kate Bottley shares her memories of the Come and Praise hymn book, sitting cross-legged in the school hall and mishearing the words. Kate is also given the much sought-after role of overhead projector monitor and uses it to share primary school photos of Aled, James, and in the interest of fairness, herself.

The programme is packed with wonderful music, leading to a spectacular finale of the nation鈥檚 favourite school assembly hymn.
