St Giles' Cathedral, Edinburgh

We join St Giles’ Cathedral in Edinburgh for a traditional Presbyterian Christmas service during the month of Advent to reflect on the coming of Jesus Christ.

In the heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town, St Giles’ Cathedral welcomes us for a traditional Christmas service during the month of Advent as the congregation gather to celebrate the coming of Jesus Christ, the light of the world.

St Giles’ Cathedral has been a working church for over 900 years, serving as the backdrop to Scotland’s religious history. The cathedral has been at the centre of the Scottish Reformation, from its inception in 1124 as a Romanesque church to its current standing as a modern Presbyterian place of worship.

The Christmas service will be led by the minister of St Giles’, the Rev Dr Scott M Rennie, alongside the master of the music, Jack Oades, who will be leading the 30-strong cathedral choir. For the service, they bring together prayer, scripture and music to celebrate the hope and reflection that this time of year brings.
