Loving Others

A spiritual comment and prayer to start the day with Rumbi Tauro.

Prayer for the Day presented by Rumbi Tauro.

Good morning,

Loving others sounds like something that should come naturally. It seems simple: be kind, be patient, show care. But in reality, it can be one of the most challenging things to live out consistently. There are moments when loving others feels easy, when people are kind, supportive, and understanding. But there are also times when it鈥檚 not so simple, when misunderstandings happen, emotions run high, or we feel hurt, overlooked, or frustrated.

I鈥檝e come to realise that in those moments, love becomes a choice rather than just a feeling. It鈥檚 choosing patience when it would be easier to react. It鈥檚 choosing grace when we feel wronged. It鈥檚 choosing to see people beyond a single moment or mistake.

In John 13:34, it says, 鈥淎 new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another.鈥 What stands out to me is the standard of that love, 鈥渁s I have loved you.鈥 That is a deep, selfless, unconditional kind of love. It鈥檚 not based on how others treat us, but on how we have been loved first, and that challenges me.

It means loving beyond convenience and comfort. Loving with patience, forgiveness, and compassion, even when it鈥檚 difficult. I鈥檓 learning that loving others isn鈥檛 about getting it right every time, but about being willing to try again.

So today, I want to be more intentional, to slow down, respond with love, and reflect the love that has been shown to me.

Dear God, thank you for loving me unconditionally. Help me grow daily in patience, grace, and understanding. Help me to love others the same way, showing kindness and compassion in every situation. Amen.
