Gustav Mahler: Symphony No. 4 in G major

Star mezzo-soprano and former Last Night of the Proms soloist Joyce DiDonato joins Yannick N茅zet-S茅guin and The Met Orchestra for their second concert of the season. Mahler is in the spotlight celebrating the wonder of nature, innocence and faith in his Symphony No. 4 鈥 lively with birdsong and sleigh bells 鈥 and looking beyond in the contemplative meditations 鈥 on life, death and transcendence 鈥 of his R眉ckert-Lieder. The same spirit runs through the swelling, breathing orchestral arcs of the late Kaija Saariaho鈥檚 Lumi猫re et pesanteur (鈥楲ight and Gravity鈥) 鈥 luminescent music adapted from the composer鈥檚 oratorio La Passion de Simone.
