A long-awaited Proms debut for the Metropolitan Opera鈥檚 Met Orchestra 鈥 praised for its 鈥榳hite-hot musical drama鈥 鈥 under Music Director Yannick N茅zet-S茅guin. A sumptuous all-Strauss programme includes a suite from Der Rosenkavalier 鈥 a ravishing homage to Vienna鈥檚 golden age 鈥 as well as the autobiographical drama of Ein Heldenleben 鈥 a striving, battling 鈥楬ero鈥檚 Life鈥 brought to vivid orchestral life. Celebrated South African soprano Elza van den Heever joins the orchestra for the final scene of the composer鈥檚 Salome 鈥 a searing centrepiece for one of the world鈥檚 great opera orchestras.
