Just for the record

Jennifer Lucy Allan digs deep into the shelves of her record collection to pull out boundary-pushing and unique experimental tracks available exclusively on vinyl.

Jennifer Lucy Allan is at the decks for a vinyl-only journey through experimental sounds. There鈥檚 charming Occitan folk from Del Sauveterre, bizarre 'town crier' stylings from Chicago's Dave The Lightbulbman, Ghanaian high-life 12鈥漵 by 'the boy with the golden voice' Nana Agyeman Opambuo and Flexi-discs given away on the front of Japanese music magazines recorded by a barely there 鈥榤ystery group鈥.

Closer to home: a stretched orchestral thunder clap; post-punk dead stock delights from the 鈥80s; and a game of 鈥榖roken鈥 Telephone from Laura Cannell, Mark Fell, Rhodri Davies and Peter J Evans which sees the quartet attempt to recreate from memory what each participant had made after just one listen. Expect warm hearty crackle, tattered sleeves, liner notes galore and no help from Shazam鈥
